Gladiator composer1/28/2024 ![]() As we're happy to have the hype, here's everything we know about the film so far.įans of Gladiator will remember the tense scenes between Russell Crowe's Maximus and Lucilla, whose studied nonchalance in the presence of her maniacal brother Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) was beautifully portrayed by Connie Nielsen. And 20 years have passed, creating exciting new possibilities for certain characters' storylines. Old stars and new actors alike are lining up for the project. There is a fervent desire for the movie to be made, and producers have heard the call. Fans have speculated on plots, actors have pledged their desire to be involved with the project, and entire scripts have been written by third parties. Plenty of information has been circulating about Gladiator 2 for some time now. But there is more than enough material in print for us to make a few educated guesses. Plot and casting details are being kept firmly under wraps for the Gladiator sequel, unsubstantiated rumors about Chris Hemsworth's involvement notwithstanding. ![]() The Gladiator 2 screenplay was written by Peter Craig, whose stock has skyrocketed this year following the release of the box office smash The Batman, which he co-wrote with Planet of the Apes franchise director Matt Reeves. He is also directing the Joaquin Phoenix-led Napoleon, which is currently filming and will premiere sometime next year. Director Ridley Scott revealed in November last year that a script is complete and will be the British director's next production. The first single from the album 'Pora Sotunda' was released in November 2017 and Lisa plans to perform with the choir throughout Europe during 2018.Gladiator 2is finally moving forward after over two decades of speculation. Most recently, Lisa collaborated with The Mystery of the Bulgaria Voices on their up-coming album, due for release by Prophecy Records on 25th May 2018. Most recently she completed the score with James Orr to 'West of Sunshine', which premiered at the Venice International Film Festival. She also collaborated with Marcello De Francisci on the score for the feature 'Jane Got a Gun' directed by Gavin O'Connor and starring Natalie Portman and Ewan McGregor. In 2016 Lisa collaborated with James Orr on the score for Paul Currie's thriller '2:22'. Lisa's vocal performances continue to be heard across the world, with a number planned for 2018, including a performance of 'Gladiator Live' at The Royal Albert Hall in London. ![]() This was premiered both in Wroclaw, Poland and at the Barbican in London. ![]() In 2013 Lisa performed the principal vocal role in leading European film composer Zbigniew Preisner's poignant concert piece 'Diaries of Hope', inspired by diaries and poems of Polish children who were victims of the Holocaust. In 2011 she completed the score for 'Burning Man' which won her Best Music Score at the 2011 Film Critics Circle of Australia Awards. In 2010 Lisa finished her score for 'Oranges and Sunshine' and the controversial film 'Tears of Gaza'. In 2009 Lisa scored the highly acclaimed feature 'Balibo' for which she won the 2009 Screen Music Award for Best Feature Film Score, an Aria Award and 3 further nominations. Several solo and collaborative albums were well received and Lisa made a natural progression to composing for films. With nine albums released between 19, the duo's musical canvas expanded with each release to take in a timeless mix of world-music influences, medieval chants, folk ballads, baroque stylings, Celtic flavours, electronics, samples and anything else that took their fancy. In 2012 the band reunited for a sell-out world tour. Her musical journey began in the early 1980s when she and fellow Australian Brendan Perry formed duo 'Dead Can Dance'. Lisa's film work also includes 'Whale Rider', a feature which received an Academy Award nomination and garnered Lisa an international award for the score. Lisa also received an Oscar nomination for 'Gladiator' along with two further Golden Globe Award nominations for her scores to 'Ali' and 'The Insider'. With a vision and vocal style that is as unique as it is precise and all-embracing, Lisa Gerrard has established herself as one of the world's most highly acclaimed film composers, winning a Golden Globe for her work on the score for 'Gladiator' with Hans Zimmer.
